Hi, everyone. We are officially in our new home. We closed today. The house is just about 25 minutes from the seminary Robert will be attending in August. It is in a lovely neighborhood, has four bedrooms, a great kitchen and beautiful yard with a treehouse and above ground oval pool. This move has been hard and stressful. I have not posted because I wanted us to be on more solid ground before I did. Here is a drastically shortened version.
We put in an offer on another house that was suppose to close on April 21st. At the last second it fell through, nothing to do with us. So Robert drove back here and found us another house. We had to be out of the rental house in Kansas by May 14th and the next house (the house we are in now) was closing on May 21st. We packed the rental up and Robert and Wild Man took the moving truck to the new house, got early possession and started unloading (Robert did 3/4 of all the unloading by himself). Meanwhile, the other four kids and I went down to Arkansas to rest and wait for when we could head to the new house. Six days later we headed that way. The day after we got here we heard that the owners had an issue that may keep them from selling so I stopped unpacking and waited until we got the go ahead and then picked back up unpacking and settling in. Today we closed and are happy to have that drama behind us. Here is another branch of the story. During the last couple of months I had entered my second trimester and baby en-utero is growing and doing great. However, baby outside of mama has not been doing great. Hulk is 9 months old now and starting about 6-7 weeks ago, at the beginning of my second trimester I started trying to give him baby food because I was no longer producing enough milk for him. He refused. So I started trying to supplement him with a bottle, sippy, spoon, regular cup, etc. He refused. About this time he got a virus and because of the lack of calories and hydration it hit him hard. We ended up in the ER when he stopped responding to me. They said he didn't need an IV for dehydration so we got some tylenol for the fever and went home. Also because of the lack of hydration and calories he didn't bounce back from the short illness. The day we had to be out of the rental I realized he had lost three pounds, not drooling, peeing only twice in 24 hours, he wasn't smiling much, barely crawling and trying to nurse constantly while still refusing any other sustenance. When we got to Arkansas I talked to four Le Leche League leaders, four Lactation consultants and tried the two last things that could work. Another mother trying to nurse him (fail) and supplemental nursing system (still trying, still failing). I also went back to the ER with him (under the advice of the LLL leaders and LCs), I got mean and demanded an IV. Around the same time we found some baby food that he did like, so we started shoveling that in as much as he would take it! Now we stand in the same place, he refuses any liquids but is eating a TON of baby food and table food and will not give up on nursing even though I have little to nothing to offer him. But he is getting stronger and doing better. We will continue to offer supplemental milk in hopes he will cave at some point. I will gladly post some pictures of the house when we are more comfortably settled in. For now, here are some pictures from the last few weeks.
