Just a quick update on the last week in the house!
Last Saturday we went to a Colonel's house for an incoming and outgoing intern party. Robert was nervous! But it went well. All except that I made a double chocolate ooey gooey butter cake that I dropped all over the floor moments before we were leaving to go to the party! Had to just leave the oven door open with delicious mushed butter cake sizzling all over the inside and floor of the kitchen. Oh well. As soon as we got back from the party Darby started getting ill. It hit her hard, with fever, aches, nausea, chills, and lethargy. She threw up once thru the night but was nauseas for her entire illness. Slept nearly all day on Sunday, only to wake and nibble on something and take a drink, then she was out again. Sunday evening (after many homeopathic remedies, prayers, and an aromatherapy bath) she came out of it, I could see just by looking at her eyes that her fever had broke and she was feeling better! She stayed home and rested Monday but has been back at school the rest of the week. I'm praising God it was short lived, because Darby seems to feel things more intensly then Bryse and I do. She's like her daddy when she's ill! ; ) Everyone within a block knows it!! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were busy with running errands in town. Jcak had his first Puppy Kindergarten class for obedience training on Tuesday evening!! We will be doing that for the next six weeks with him. And I Got Cal's pictures done. Here are a sampling of some of the better shots: And then Thursday we stayed home! (Isn't that what I'm suppose to be?! A STAY AT HOME mom? Why is it that I forget that and get busy doing sooo much else?!) Bryse and I worked hard all day catching up on what I hadn't done for a while, since we had been busy outside of the home. We did four loads of laundry, washed dipes, washed new fabric, cut fabric, ironed fabric, washed dishes, vacuumed the whole house, made babyfood (Cinnamon apples and oates) for Cal and finger foods (teeny steamed apples) for Cal, fruit salsa, cinnamon tortilla crisps, and a huge loaf of celebration braid bread. I meant to take a picture of Bryse with all of our foods that we prepared, but didn't get around to it. Today everything is basically caught up! So I'm doing this and then I'm hoping to go down the road and see if the Wal-Mart in Grovetown is finally open. Gotta pick up a few groceries because Robert invited the interns over for dinner tomorrow night!! Meanwhile, cute things the kids have done: -Robert caught Bryse peeing while standing on the rim of the toilet yesterday! Yeah. -Bryse calls our new swing set "sequiota" (*tear*). Which was the park we frequented the most in Springfield. -Cal seems to say "throw" now. Whenever anyone is holding a ball he says it over and over. Throwing also seems to be his favorite thing right now. He goes through toys just chunking them across the room and does the same with his pacifiers when he is winding down for nap. -Darby creates games for the family and kids to play on a daily basis.

Robert works on the Mental Health floor of Dwight D. Eisenhower Hospital at Fort Gordon. He has his own office and is currently interning there. I've taken the kids to see it a few times. They get really excited when we go! Thought I would share some pictures of the place he spends alot of his time.
Robert is a big dog person! But we have been holding off for a couple years on getting one because we wanted to wait until we had a fenced yard, enough money, and a landlord that didn't care. Well, now that we have these things, we got us a dog! We started watching craiglist and petfinder.com for dogs to rescue. Had to be cat and kid friendly, didn't care what age really and had a few different breeds that we preferred. And truely, we did not want a small dog. I worked in a vet clinic for over a year before I had Darby and found that there are very few breeds of small dogs that are pleasant to be around,in my opinion! Well, if I was gonna choose, I wanted a boxer, because everything i read on them said that they are typically great with small children. Finally a litter of four pups came up. We submitted an application and finally got approved to come see the two males that were left from the litter. I drove the hour and a half on Thursday with Bryse and Cal after I dropped Darby off at school. She didn't even know we were going to see about a puppy! I wanted to surprise her. Jack and his brother played and romped around until Bryse and I decided on Jack. I chose him because when him and his brother came running up to Bryse, while his brother knocked her over, he just sat down in front of her, even though he was obviously excited. His brother had the normal look of a boxer with the white too, so was alittle prettier, but I enjoyed Jack's uniqueness! Jack's story is that his owner was evicted and he left the mother and four pups behind when he left. They were three weeks old when that happened. Jack and his siblings lived in a foster home until they were adopted.
He's been great so far. Barely ever overwhelms the kids and Bryse loves him. Darby was super surprised when I picked her up with him, and loves having him around, but just isn't quite the dog person that Bryse is. His name comes from the Little House of the Prarie book I read the girls in the spring. I think that dog was technically a bulldog mix, but Darby didn't care, she said that she thinks he probably looks like Laura's dog! : ) Last Tuesday my Sister-in-law arrived on a plane with our two nephews! Hagen (2) and Canon (7 months). We won't be able to travel to Texas in probably another year because of Robert internship schedule, so we were pleased as punch to get to see the boys and Terra!!! With a house full of five kiddos we had a full schedule without even leaving the house, but somehow we got away several times to go out to eat and show Terra the base and the hospital that Robert works at. I have lots of pictures to share too, so brace yourself for some cuteness!!!
I found out this morning that last night, the news anchor that did the story on Cal's birth won a Mid-America Emmy for it!!! Yeay, JOY!!! I
If you aren't aware, Cal homebirth was made into a news story with our permission because midwifery had just been leagalized in Missouri. My dear sweet friend, Andrea kept telling me that I had a ministry opportunity, at the time I doubted her. But now I believe. I can't tell you how many people have called us, emailed, or told us that they now know more of the options because we went so public about it. The way I choose to birth is very spiritual to me and something that I never took lightly. Having done nearly two years of reading and research before having Cal I was well aware of my options and which were safest. I don't regret doing the homebirth nor the news story. I'm proud for my son and I to be a tool that was needed to expose women everywhere to what birth can be. And that they have the freedom to choose in Missouri now!!! Here is a link to the page where you can find both parts of the news story: http://ozarksfirst.com/content/personalportraits_archive?sid=11b17c20b4a22e07789d44a96eb24bab&archive_stories_page=2 Cal went to a real barber shop and got a hair cut yesterday! He looks so grown up now! He was good for the hair cut too. Here are some pics!
I'm hoping this website/blog will take the place of my occasional email updates with pictures. My plan is to update this blog every now then with what's going on with us and the kids. So as to stay connected with all of our loved ones and family members that live so very far away now. : (
As for a new place to live....as most know, we recently moved half way across the nation to the Augusta, GA area! This was an interesting move, as I (Lindsey) did it without Robert as he was at Officer Basic and then moving to Georgia himself. My lovely parents came and helped us leave our old house in Springfield, MO and make the two day trip with three kids and a nervous cat to a town we had never been to and had no home ahead of time at!! FUN!!! Truely, it could've been a much crazier move. Thank God for my sweet kids! They were troopers. Not much sleep, horribly unhealthy diets and 3-4 days later the Lord provided us with a beautiful rental house! It's the first time Robert and I have lived in a home with more than enough room! It's four bedroom and around 2000 square feet. We would've loved a bigger yard and more space outside, but are truely happy with it. Here are some pictures now that we have, more or less, moved in!
