(Weebly is about to get an angry call from me! This is the second time it has screwed up and lost a whole post that I made, only for me to have to retype! end rant)
SO! On December 11th we were honored to go to our first millitary ball! This was my first time to see Robert in his dress blues, he looked very handsome! It was nice to get dressed up and go out together. I wish I could say that we danced the night away, but I can't! : ( Anyway, the ball started at 6:00. We got to sit at a table is a Colonel, but it's proper etiquette to wait until the superior officers sit before we do, so we mingled for over an hour. Then, they asked everyone to find their seat. There were a couple welcome speeches, the presenting of the flags and a ceremony for the POWs and MIAs. They had a small table set up for one that stayed empty in honor of them. Everything at the table symbolized something special. I found the flag and this ceremony very moving. I felt honored to be present. They prayed to start the ball off to. How do you like that? I enjoy being a part of something that seems to care little about what is PC, and more about what is honorable and traditional and respectful. A couple hours in we finally got to eat! I had a salad and vegetarian lasagna (while Rober had the chicken) and a super yummy chocolate cake! There was a little entertainment during dinner. After dinner there were a couple more speakers. The main speaker was very interesting! He had lived thru Pearl Harbor when he was six and could remember it. And he shared stories of meeting amazing people that had one the medal of honor. I felt so humbled to be in his presence! The formal part of the ball lasted around four hours! After that we were beat and ready to just go home. So when they started the fun music and crazy dancing we headed out. I can't help but feel like an ole' fuddy duddy! But once we got home and in our pjs, sitting on the couch. Plus we saved some money with the babysitter by coming home early....I was thankful!! Here are some pics, not many, but a few.
