So, it happened. The inevitable. My girls are great at using sissors and I'm a big believer in having crafts down where they can play with them whenever. I'm still a believer, but Bryse did cut her hair. How did I find out? Darby came into the kitchen last night with a chunk of her own hair (not noticable though) and told me Bryse had cut her hair. I put Bryse in time out and then when she came out of time out to talk about her choice I realised that a chunk of her bangs is missing, and then (as if in slow motion) she turned her head and I saw the chunk missing from the back/side. I love Bryse's long blonde hair! Her hair isn't like Darby's. Darby's grew like a weed from the day she was born. It never bothered me to cut her hair because she always had more then enough and I knew it would be growing fast! Bryse's little head has worked HARD to grow this length of hair! She was the average baby with very little hair, I've probably only trimmed her hair two or three times in her LIFE! But alas, I knew that I would have to fix it. So this morning I took pictures of the crime and then chopped it all off. Here is the proof:

This year, considering the long drive or expensive flight to go home for the holidays, we are choosing to stick around here. While it was sad, we made the best of it. We really enjoyed our time together and don't regret our decision. It was nice to just hang out with the family. And WAY less complicated and stressful. After dinner we took the kids outside and tossed the football around. Enter....Black Friday AND Darby's birthday! We went to a few stores but didn't buy anything. But we did get the Christmas decor out! Which really got us all in a happy mood and made the house feel like a real home! It was so much fun and exciting because the girls are old enough that I don't have to babysit them so carefully when they are decorating the tree! So it made things so much easier!
Our sweet first born baby is turning SIX this friday! : ( I can't believe it. 6:33pm on November 27th she entered the world at 7 pounds 14 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. She's our first everything. Poor thing will be forever our ginea pig! We learn from her daily and her little siblings reap the benefits! But she's a trooper! And a classic older sister. Just moments ago she had Brsye in the bathroom cleaning her off from getting muddy outside. Washed, combed, and changed her clothes. Without my knowledge of anything!
So Saturday (since Darby was born on Thanksgiving we celebrate her Birthday a week before or after) we had a little party for her at the house. Invited two families that we have met here. They had fun! Darby wanted a strawberry cake, so I made two different kinds: a Chocolate Covered Strawberry cake and a Chocolate strawberry shortcake. Here are some pics of our celebration: So last week my sweet, wonderful friend Andrea called me to tell me that she was in labor! After crying because I wasn't there to experience the miracle of her first homebirth and second baby being born. I got over it and praised God for Baby Noah's timing, for if it had been any other week I wouldn't have been able to buy a ticket and come to see him the weekend after he was born!! I bought a ticket the day Noah was born and started planning for our weekend away. The girls were stoked to get a Daddy weekend! They went to the movies and Wal-Mart and out to eat! Cal and I left for Atlanta to catch our flight on Friday around noon. The flight there was so busy and I was stressed trying to make sure that I didn't forget anything, that I didn't take pictures. We got to Branson and my mom and my sister picked me up from the airport. We were so happy to see everyone, because it had been two months! It was a very nice visit! Even though mom's car broke down about five minutes from Andrea's, Darrin, her amazing husband came and got us! And I got to meet precious baby Noah and hear all about his peaceful, Christ centered birth! I praise God that Andrea got this labor and birth after her rocky hospital birth with Iylona! And then Saturday evening, Laurie drove me and mom (Dad had since brought the broken car back to Arkansas) down to Pea Ridge, AR. The next morning we went to church and then out to eat at Acambaro's, very yummy, and great family and friends time! And then, on the way home, Cal and I had a whole row to ourselves on the plane! So I had the presence of mind to get some shots. So much fun was had! The drive back from Atlanta to home was not fun to say the least. I was so tired and Cal cried most of the way (he's been teething for about a week, actually pushed a tooth up on the plane). I stopped to get gas and squirted gas ALL over my jeans some how (enter, I was tired excuse). I honestly don't remember a ton about the drive except it was miserable. And my jeans still smell like gasoline. ; P
I can't remember exactly when it was last year that I started doin this. I believe it was around October....was the first batch of homemade laundry detergent that I made for the family to try it out. At the time I didn't have my kick butt food processor, so I shredded a bar of soap by hand and added the washing soda and borax to that. Once I was impressed with the results I decided to keep doing it. Although for the next few times that I made it, I went to my friend, Andrea's house. She has a nice food processor. Just shove the bar of soap into the top to shred then, process to powder! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!! So I mooched from her a while. And then, when Macy's was having a great sale, Robert and I splurged and bought me my super nice Cuisenart food processor (which I use for everything, was totally worth every penny. Haven't spent the money on pre-shredded chz since i bought it!) And now, about every two months, I get all my stuff out and make our easy and cheap laundry detergent.
2 parts processed bar soap (I use fels naptha that I purchase in bulk) 1 part washing soda 1 part borax Stir, add a Tbl to the wash. Robert's 29th was November 1st. He went golfing the day before his birthday, so we baked his traditional german chocolate cake while he was gone. Robert is notoriously hard to buy for because he is soooo picky. If I buy him anything worth alot, I can count on having to take it back and let him pick what he really wanted. So I have surrendered to letting him buy his own gift. Which will probably be a grill when we find the time to go shopping. But since I do, so love, buying gifts, I did still get him some pens for his office from The Office. And had the girls color Peanuts coloring pages for him to put up in his office. Here are some pics from when he got home from golfing and got his birthday cake and gifts.
I've been pretty busy the last week. So I haven't updated like I want to. But I do have some pictures to post of Halloween. This was the first year that the kids went trick or treating. Every other year we have gone to our churches fall festival. And it's the first year that I didn't make their costumes. : ( Oh wel! We still had a fun family time! Cal was a bumble bee, Darby was Daphne from Scooby Doo, and Bryse was an Angel. Funny thing about Bryse's costume. The sleeves were WAy too thin! I didn't know if I was gonna be able to get it on her! And she's not a large two year old. Anyway, at the end of the night we thought we were gonna have to cut the sleeves off of her! Which ofcourse she translated as that we were going to cut her arms. Yeah, she cried. Anyway, here are some pictures! And here are some pictures of a few days before Halloween. The kids "helping" daddy carve the pumpkin. Ofcourse I forgot to take a picture when they were all done.
