So we really needed to get to the library. The sheet rock guys had been coming for quite some time and because of that I couldn't go anywhere in the morning. I had already renewed all of our books on-line once. Also, we had finished our history curriculum and while we were waiting for the new books to be shipped I thought we would go through a study on the Protestant Reformation, considering next month is the 500th anniversary. A couple years ago I had found a free study on the internet and was saving it for when the girls would be a little older. SO I finally printed it off (all 84 pages!) and we started that, but it meant we needed to pick some reformers to study for some lap books. Which, again, meant the library. It's hard to go to the library because it takes a couple of hours and then our school day is sorta shot. So we decided to lay Hulk down for his morning nap, do Bible and History while he slept, and then head out as soon as we were done with that. We also decided to take two subjects with us so that we could do them at the library. Here is what happened... First of all, we have a rule that we can't leave the house unless it's clean first. So after history we had to clean up the scissors and glue and pencils and scrap paper and any toys the little boys had gotten out. We had to collect all of our homeschool books and pencils to take to the library. Then we needed to go through our receipt from the library and make sure that ALL the borrowed books were in the wagon and none were left behind. This usually involves some scavenger hunts for a few stray books. About six were found in a cardboard box that Wild Man had taped up in his room. Then I realized that the girls' room was not picked up adequately and I needed to transfer laundry, meanwhile Hulk woke and had a stinky diaper. I wanted to bring my laptop and put it by the wagon so I wouldn't forget it. After we completed cleaning the girls room and transferring the laundry and cleaning Hulk up then we started loading the van with the wagon, backpacks and kids. We started down the driveway when I saw that there was a bike in the driveway and the front yard. This counts as not cleaning up, so I stopped the van and had the culprits take the bikes where they belong, at which time I realized that The Boy had already removed his shoes! While Hurricane was putting her bike back she checked the front door and it was unlocked, so I had to get out and lock that (there have been 5 break ins in our neighborhood recently and while everyone surely sees the 90 pound crazy barking boxer in our yard occasionally, we still have to be careful). We set off again only for me to get about 8 minutes down the road and realize that I left my laptop in the sunroom (which isn't locked). So we turned around to go get that! All in all it took us right at an hour to be completely done and ready to leave for the library for real!! AND, when Daddy got home while we were away he discovered another door that had been left unlocked. : | I got so much done this week! I think I made about 10 freezer meals total plus about 40 breakfast burritos! I am officially at a stand still for more freezer meals because our big freezer is full. Mainly because of the 11 apple pies and 20 freezer bags of homemade chicken broth, but I still got it pretty well stocked for the postpartum period.
I also cleaned out the van and washed all the carseat covers and we put all the carseats in the van including the new baby's carseat! So that is ready to go and the van is all vacuumed and pretty. I even cleaned the inside of the windows. We also closed the pool officially so swimming is over for this year. : ( But we can still go to the indoor pool at the seminary. You know, when we have the time....sooo....yeah. I completely finished organizing our birth supplies and we had our home visit prenatal. My blood pressure is perfect, growth is great, baby is active, all is normal. I get really bad rib pain on my right side but it will randomly go away when baby switches positions. So it typically only lasts a couple days at a time. I really don't think this baby is as big as Hulk. And I found a recipe for biscuits that only has three ingredients and is Dairy free and soy free!! The boys haven't had biscuits in ages! They are so excited! They are unbelievably easy. It takes about 20 minutes from start to finish to make a double batch and everyone loves them. Robert says they taste just as good if not better than any other biscuits. So we are having fun with that! The 3 older kids have been asking about camping out in the back yard for a long time and the timing has been poor. But Sunday evening it seemed like a great time so we said yes. Robert set up the tent and we moved Jack's bed into it so that he could protect them. We left the outdoor lights on all night and we built a tent around Wild Man's bed in the house so that he didn't feel so left out. And then I went to bed expecting any minute for them to come back in one by one because they were scared. It never happened! They all slept great and had a blast! Which of course meant that I was awake most the night listening intently for any sounds of distress or children coming back in, which never happened, and I got very little sleep. : )

Last week we got to attend Souther Seminary's annual Fall Festival. It's a really big deal. They completely transform the greens into another land! Last year they did The Wizard of Oz and this year they did Adventures in Odyssey! Our kids are huge fans of the show! They listen to the audio of that show more than they watch tv so we were really excited! Early in the day on Friday I signed up the three oldest to create their own Adventures in Odyssey radio show! The girls were actors in the show and The Boy was a foley artist (sound effects). We got a copy of the short episode and everything! It was so exciting! And then later that night we went to the fall festival! Your ticket gets your dinner there and then there are all sorts of snack vendors too, for free. Unlimited cotton candy, funnel cakes, fresh fruit, suckers, grilled corn on the cob, snow cones, and cupcakes! Talk about a kid's paradise! They also had rides set up and about 20-30 bouncy houses! About half way through the night it started raining but that did not stop our family! There was a big scavenger hunt and at 8:30 a show with all the actors from the radio program! This was very exciting for my girls because they got to see the actors that play Eugene, Connie, and Mr Whit perform their characters live on stage! After the show my girls were first in line to get "Connie's" autograph and much to Tender's surprise she burst into tears over her excitement in meeting Katie Leigh. Katie Leigh was very gracious and hugged her and comforted her and I took advantage with my camera! I'll bet we walked 3 miles or so all night! My legs were sore. In other news, we are doing well. Things are slowing down into a good routine and we are thankful. I have most of my supplies for the birth ready and that is good because our Home Visit prenatal is this week!! I'm still working on freezer meals and such. Today I fixed the playlists on my phone so that my labor music is ready to roll. I have our "If mom is in labor and it looks like no adult is going to make it here in time..." list up for the girls for that slight possibility. Robert only has classes two days a week and I usually have early signs of labor so that is not likely but we want to be prepared for anything! I've included a picture of my pregnancy with The Hulk and this one for those of you that like to compare. There is quite a difference. I don't know if that means this is a girl or if I'm just smaller because of the amount of stress during this pregnancy and the fact that I went for two months without gaining weight at one point. I dunno, this baby is not taking up as much space. Yesterday I wore a pair of normal jeans and was able to button them!! I've never, in any of my pregnancies carried a baby high enough to button pants under my belly, no matter how low I wore the pants! So weird. Also, my heartburn (better described as acid reflux, or the feeling of needing to vomit fire) has been really bad the last few days. So bad. Last night after a suggestion from a friend I put some peppermint essential oils on my neck and the pain disappeared! Seriously!! How in the world does that work?! I slept all night without any pain! And I'm still good today. I've even eaten, and all food was causing it, including drinking water. It's a miracle. I am thankful. Such a simply thing, and to think, I was ready to run toward the Maalox! Glad I didn't! Okay, I gotta go, we are gonna make breakfast burritos for the freezer!
We went to Huber Farms this week to pick apples! I've never been to such a big farm! They have a huge vineyard and peach orchard and tons of different veggies too. I had gotten money for apples though so we mainly got those with the exception of some grapes because we had never picked those before. We worked hard and had a lot of fun. Now we are processing the apples. We've already made 3 pies, 2 full dehydrators of apple rings (each batch makes about 290 dehydrated apple rings, great for snacking!) and six batches of raw applesauce. We will make more of everything. We did the math and figured out how much we wanted to make of everything and about how many pounds we would need to make that much. And we took most of the week off from formal homeschooling to learn by doing instead. We will probably take off some of this coming week too.
