We had such a fun weekend! Our best "couple friends" drove 9 hours with their three kids to spend the weekend with us because they are moving to Africa for 3 years (military)! Robert and I were so humbled and honored that they would sacrifice such a trip to spend time with us. Our kids had a blast and our home was a circus with all of those little ones! A friend kindly babysat all nine of them so that we could go on one last double date too. AND, it was suppose to rain the whole weekend but the weather changed and the sun came out and it was hot and we somehow we got the pool up and going just in time for the kids to swim in some very chilly water. So fun!
Tender got accepted into an middle school intensive Chinese language class this summer! It's three weeks, five days a week, all day. And the huge blessing is that it's free! She is so excited. Also, she is moving up to the youth group this week at church. She is so looking forward to getting to make friends with some people her own age. Also, she is getting braces as soon as Robert and I figure out how we are going to pay for them. That will mainly be trusting the Lord to provide. Please pray for our trust and God's providence in that area. We spoke to our third orthodontist this morning and finally found one we liked and he was so nice at explaining everything and getting on the ball with putting them on at the next appointment. Robert has already finished his first J Term for the summer and will start his second one in two weeks. That will be the first week of Tender's Chinese class and her class is only one mile from the seminary so that is such a blessing! Both of our littlests have been struggling with a cough for the last couple of weeks. Hulk is all better and Bug is finally coming out of it. So I am happy for that and getting more sleep. Our pool is open now and so the kids have been swimming everyday! Its so great to see them happy and playing in beautiful weather. We are planning on having an open swim for all of our friends all summer every Tuesday so that we can have consistent fellowship and fun. They are stoked about that. I have a few baby sugar snap peas growing! So that is my exciting news. : ) I will have to take a picture of my garden. But I still have some green beans and zucchini to plant.

I have this fear that I will show myself for the fool I am and forget a letter in the alphabet for my titles! Ha! Anyway, I only took two pictures this week, sorry. To make up for it I will share some things Wild Man has said (all with a very serious face) in the last few months. That should brighten your day. Also, a healthy knowledge of hymn lyrics is helpful with some of these. ; )
(Here are some quotables from Wild Man: WM: Jesus is going to come back and kill Dave. Me: (totally confused) You mean Satan? WM: Oh yeah. Satan. WM: I don't have any underwear on!! (In the middle of Aldis) Robert: (Showing WM the Gospel Story Bible picture) What is Moses holding? WM: Probably a cat Robert: No, the ten commandments. Not a cat. WM: (while watching the new Star Wars) That's Darth Vader's best friend. Uh oh. That's bad. WM: (singing)He punched me to victory.... Me: It's "He plunged me to victory!" WM: (singing to Hulk in the van) Rock a baby, cleft for me! WM: (to a random stranger) I have a green froggy at home. I think my head is bigger than yours. WM: (contemplating the lack of stickers on his sticker chart for good behavior) Jesus is so good, he has all the stickers on his sticker chart. WM: (speaking to the dentist about the nitrous) This nose thing snells sno good I want to eat it. (and no, there are no typos, that is what he said) Dentist: We just made your lip sleepy, that's why you can't feel it. WM: Wake it back up. Robert is officially done with his second semester of seminary! Woo Hoo! And he finished Hebrew which was pretty daunting. He will be taking two J terms (one week each, eight hours a day) this summer and working full time with a friend of his that is a contractor. He is still working out three times a week and reaping great benefits from it. Lots of muscles! ; ) With working out and studying for finals and writing papers it put him out of the house usually 6 days a week from 5am-6pm, give or take an hour here or there. So the day after his last final he gave me a "day off". So I went to pilates and jogging at the seminary. And then sat in their cafe and read my Bible and Openness Unhindered by Rosaria Butterfield Champagne (the sort-of sequel to Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert, both of which I can not recommend more highly!) Then I went home to feed Bug. Next I went to Sweet Frog for my very own FroYo, and didn't have to share it with anyone or get stared at while I enjoyed it! They had free wifi so I worked for an hour on our next unit study on Government and elections. Then I read some of Prodigal God by Tim Keller (another I can't recommend higher!). Their music was a little too loud for such a heavy book so I went to the library instead but as soon as I got there Robert texted to say that Bug needed me. So off I went to home again to feed him and lay him down for nap. Lastly I drove to Louisville to meet with a friend from church for some great thai food and much needed adult conversation! Her house was really close to the restaurant so we walked but after we ate it was raining, but we figured, oh well! And walked home in the rain. It was fun. So that is my latest news. A whole day to myself. Everything else is pretty normal here. Hulk is talking more. Bug is trying to crawl, but the hardwood floors are slippery and thwart his efforts. Wild Man's behavior has gotten so much better! He shocks Robert and I often. The kids watched a Kid's Baking competition on Netflix and now they want to have one of their own, the girls do anyway. So I thought it over and told them they could make cake pops (after watching a 7 part tutorial online) and we will grade them and announce a winner. So here in a couple weeks (I'm giving them to time to research, prepare, and buy ingredients) I will have pictures of that! Well, I finally got my app fixed, I think. So here are some pictures from the last few weeks. We have been pretty productive lately. Everyone (except Bug) got hair cuts last week. Just trims except for Hurricane, she got a big time hair cut. And I moved all the boys' clothes around. Handed the hand me downs down, put the winter clothes away and unpacked the summer clothes. And then today we organized our library and put away all of our Spring curriculum. We made several changes with our learning schedule and strategies and have seen great results. We are ready for some more hands-on, less structured education for the summer months! Yeay! In a couple of weeks we will be getting the pool up and running. |
